Escape from Area 51

A few (HAHAHA!) posts back I mentioned that I was going to finish up all my UFO's and have some new clothes and a cleaner room. Yeah, well. TODAY I did. The full compliment of now FO's: This includes a pair of black pants, some lighter linen look pants, and a dark navy pants, as well as the dress. The black pants needed a hem and buttons. The linen pants needed some buttonhole work (I keep cutting threads when opening my BH's), the navy just needed ironing (seriously!) and I re-hemmed the dress. This time I just folded it up 1/2" and hand stitched. I didn't use a hem stitch, I wanted it looser - so I just rant the needle down catching a couple of threads on the outside and giving it a tug every 3 stitches or so to keep the crinkle. I'm planning on wearing it tonight so maybe I'll get a picture of it on me and finished. The pants? Eh, who cares. Pants.

So no I have NO (none, zip, zilch, nada) UFO's. I have the next project, which has been cut out only. A vest from BWOF Jan 09. I traced it out a while ago and lost the tracing. I found it a bit ago and cut it out. I'm going to line it with the SILK . Yep, it's time to pull out the real stuff. Pretty, isn't it? From Fabricmart, I think - a silk bundle.

And my parting shot. I've been watching Zombie COuture and her fab nails. It has prompted me to give up the PTA Pink and Grand-mauve colors. Have I gone too far?

  1. I have that silk too. The sales at Fabric Mart make it so cheap to have great silk for linings.
I am saving it for a coat that I have material from a sale at Michaels. Aren't internet sales fun?
The dress is wonderful. I do like black and white prints.

  2. I missed the silk bundles but hit the jackpot with tie silk bundles. Some of the bundles came in 2 or 3 yard lengths (by about 29 inches). I have a cap sleeved top, morphed from a BWOF pattern, that when cut on the crossgrain yields a nice top with vertical stripes--amazingly flattering. A couple of pieces wound up as handbags.

I do not think you went too far with the nail polish. I too was inspired by Zombie Couture and now have 15 shades, which includes glitters. Every 2 or 3 days I change colors and am getting better at applying it. Dark colors are the most difficult for me. #92 Deeply Violet topped by #11 Strobe Light, both by Sally Hanson are scheduled for next weekend's SciFi relaxacon, ConCave, held at a Tennessee State Park. Should be just the thing. Have Fun with your polish.

  3. Isn't it nice to move the garments from the UFO pile to the closet? And you got some really great pieces finished up!

Lovin' the nails - I am a blue fanatic so I think you have chosen and excellent colour!!

  4. Oops! That should read "...you have chosen AN excellent colour!!" I got so excited about the blue, I was rendered momentarily illiterate. :)

  5. What? No unfinished products?! I am impressed. And the nail colour- I like it. I too have been influenced by Shannon and I have bought a dark plum, Shannon Reccommended Ruby Slipper and a wonderful midnight blue. OMgosh there is just no telling what we might do next!

  6. NO UFOs? You mean I have not rubbed off on you at all? Actually, they look great. I like the polish, don't think it's too much at all. I'm trying to find UT orange myself.. K

  7. Good job with that problem hem, BeeBee. I left a comment on SG on SIPP, but is it possible that the dress is #112 from August 2009 Burdastyle instead of #108 as you said in an earlier post? I looked at the pattern and couldn't see the problem with the very large top until I accidentally flipped to another pattern, #112. Anyway, the dress looks great!
