It sure seemed like a short weekend. My husband was supposed to fly in yesterday (Saturday) for the holiday but his flight was canceled and so he was supposed to fly in today for the holiday but his flight was canceled and now he's currently in the air from eastern Washington to Baltimore via Seattle and Detroit scheduled around a red-eye, he should arrive tomorrow morning, in theory. We had a house showing yesterday, so I to do some cleaning and snow shoveling yesterday morning, then the grocery store and then lunch. My son's wound vac isn't cooperating this weekend so I've messed with that thing multiple times. And that creates mountains of additional laundry. But enough of THAT whining. Let's move on to sewing whining.
Sewing whining. One word - BURDA! Ok, more words. Burda's "new" pattern sheets. Tracing out my jacket pieces took forever. My back hurts, my eyes are strained and I'm completely annoyed. Totally annoyed. Pissed even. And this was the "special pattern in pink". there were a big old ton of pieces, but still..... Ok, moving on some more.
In between tracing sessions I refashioned another t shirt. Another silly Christmas shirt from Target a couple of years ago, with the witty expression "Be nice to me, I know Santa". Please rest assured these shirts do not get worn in public - these are sleep and house shirts.
And then I cut out and started a Simplicity skirt. About 1/2 done with this.
View the one in red flowers on the bottom right. But in a really nice grey wool blend. I complicated it (again...) by lining the front wrap so it won't stick to the under part of the skirt.
I will start looking a making my jacket next weekend, probably. I'm still too annoyed with Burda to mess with right now.
"...Burda..." I almost cancelled my subscription this year. It's still on the chopping block for 2011. It really is hard for these "mature" eyes to trace the patterns. So I sympathize with you, completely.
ReplyDeleteOnward to the jackets....
BEEBEE, have you considered buying the Burda patterns instead of the subscription/tracing etc. I loved the issues for reading, but not tracing/sewing. I just hate tracing but have been quite pleased with the same type styles and fit on the individual Burda patterns. Perhaps a bit more expensive, but how many patterns did I really trace? Not many.
