There's a lot of blog talk about New Year's Resolutions. I don't usually make them because by noon on the first I've broken most of them. And then there's just no challenge left for the rest of the year. But I do think I'd like to make a few sewing-related goals. (Maybe if I call them goals they won't seem so daunting?)
1. Make a jacket. At least one that fits and looks nice. The complexity of the pattern isn't part of the goal, it's the finished product that I'm after.
2. Master my serger. By this I mean to be able to use it as Bernina intended: Serge, coverstitch, rolled hem, etc. And do it well enough and comfortably enough to do it when I need to.
3. Be able to make a welt pocket. Just the thought of these gives me hives. But I love the look. So I'm going to stock up on Benadryl, make some samples and do it.
There, I've said it. See you in December.
I'm heading out to G Street in a bit - they should have a missing serger part for me today (a critical item to #2 above) and will, of course, hit THE WALL - more later.
About a month ago my truck died, just wouldn't start one day. Since then various events have prevented me from getting it going again. I think it's just the battery, but don't know yet. I have battery booster - one of those things you charge inside and take out and start the car. I'd forgotten about it until last weekend. Then it had to charge up. Then it snowed like a SOB. I want to move to Phoenix.
