I'm getting ready to move, so I packed up all my sewing stuff yesterday, including putting my machine back into it's original box. I feed very bereft now. As if I nothing to do when I get home tonight. That's completely false, of course, as I have packing, cleaning, reading, TV, taxes, etc. But I miss Pfaff on the table. And, naturally, as soon as I packed up, I thought of about 20 projects I want to tackle and/or how to tackle them. And I know it will be about a month before I get to work on any. C'est la vie. Though after the wadder shorts, you must be wondering WHY, WHY are you so anxious to do this again? Well: to prove I can and because I had such a HUGE success with my jean jacket. It's an "Old Navy" stretch denim from a couple of years ago that I don't wear much because the sleeves are (WERE!) too long. Turning them up made them too short and thick. I FIXED THEM yesterday. Took about an hour and it looks soooooo good. Really cannot tell it didn't come that way (except more of the loose threads are gone!)
Things I did right:
*Took apart only one at a time, so I could use the other as a model.
*Tried it on before I cut - my measurement would have been off 1/2 inch
*Switched feet to get the look I needed (Used the zipper foot around the button to get into the tight places).
*Marked my cuffs against the sleeve prior to dismantling.
*Took my time to pin well and try on before stitching.
Also took out the label out of the back - that's just a pet peeve and something that bugs my skin.
So now I'm going to update my "to Sew" list.
Later......
