Still kicking

Ok, I posted a nice long ramble the other night and it just disamappeared, so I'm going to try again.
Let's start with sewing. Can we say frustrating? The taupe/Vogue dress is a dissaster. Horrible, terrible, no good, very bad sewing. It looks like a cheap 20's flapper dress copied by the Waltons. Yuck. No pics on this, nope, nope, nope. I'll salvage the fabric, maybe for a tee-shirt. Yuck.
So I thought I'd try something different: a woven, nylon shell-type blouse. Turned out looking somewhat ok, but the back is so tight I can't move my arms. I tried letting out the seam allowances in the back of the sleeves, it helped a little, but still not good. Also messed up on the hem and had to cut some off. My become lining material.
Next, perhaps I'll try some shorts. Whatever....
In other news: hubby got a promo, I got a raise, we're moving next weekend - the furniture is arriving from Ashley's.
Now for my airline story: let's see where to start..
I was supposed to go to Little Rock, AK (yeah, I know) for a one-day leadership meeting. So, I left the office at 10 for my 11am flight which finally left at 12:30. I had a peice of cardboard pizza for lunch (if you're ever in the Detroit airport, avoid Pizza-popolis, akk) and headed over to C gate for my 3:21 connection to LR that finally left around 4:30. About 1/3 way there we TURNED AROUND! Some instrument light problem. After 2 more hours at the gate, on the plane with the door open (remember this is Detroit in early March: 8 inches of new snow yesterday morning), we refuel and left again. Only to have the light come BACK on, turn BACK AGAIN and deplane. SO, they rebooked me for a noon-ish flight today from Detroit to Houston to LR to arrive at LR around 6pm, an hour after my meeting ends. Good planning, eh? So I trudge back to the main gate to customer service (oxymoron here!) and end up with a return flight back to DC that was supposed to leave at 9:14 and finally departed at 10:30. I hit my front door around 12:15. So, let's add this up: 14.5 hours to end up where I started with never having reached my destination. Oh, but they did NOT cancel my flight back from LR for tomorrow. LOL, I just received my NWA check -in reminder. But I did a first class upgrade for the flight I won't be taking. Whatever.
Tomorrow's my flex day, I'm going to spend it sewing and packing. Need to clean some stuff out of the house and clean the house. Laundry is a must this weekend, too. And I have to re-finish the chest of drawers while I still have a place to do it. And I'm going to the Airforce Charity Ball on Saturday night. Silent auction should be great.
