Based on a self proclaimed web-nerd to an obvious web-moron, I removed 2 of the 3 possible bottlenecks from my blog page. Neither was a deal breaker for me, so off they went. I can't tell what's really stalling me out, though. It doesn't load enough to see and completely locks up the page while it's doing it. Just an hour-glass, can't even click on the red "X" at the top to stop. For me, I get a flash of the base screen, then the wallpaper loads but the data's gone. Then it all pops up (10-15 minutes later). After that performs seems ok. But we'll give it a shot without the 2 problem children and see what happens.
