This has been a trying project. Not because of the pattern, but the fabric. I never gave a thought to the inabilithy of my needle to pierce the fabric. I started, as per the instructions, on the front bodice seam. It is partially interfaced, as you can see, and that part did fine, but when the facing ran out, so did my luck. I started skipping stitches. A lot. After much trial, error, and posts on SG, I got a knit needle and switched to silk thread (who da thunk I owned the only color in silk necessary???? Stuff's probably 40 years old. Huh...) Still skips some, but will hold ok. I'm liking the look and it's going together pretty well, considering the seam issue.
I put the bodice & skirt together as directed, but I don't think I like the lines, so I may do some adjustments tomorrow and then decide if I want to line it or not. Vogue says yes, but my fabric is already a double layer, so it may be overkill. I need to update my photo's tomorrow, as well.
In other news, we have our new apartment to move to and went furniture shopping today. We'll repeat tomorrow. I'd like to have some sewing time tomorrow, but we have so much other stuff to do and, somehow it always takes all our time.
Kevin's former girlfriend's mother isn't doing well. He called today and asked what he should do when she dies. I told him to send flowers from all of us and to go to the visitation and not the funeral. And with the expectation that it may be askward, so just plan on staying for a few and moving on. He was part of their lives for a couple of years, so he needs to make a showing.
Well, that's it for now. I'm hoping to finish up my dress this week and then I want to do..... PANTS! Yikes! But I really want some nice ones from my Zegna $2 (can you freakin' believe it!?!?!?!) a yard wool. And I now have a pattern for the brown stretch velvet. Decisions, decisions....
