Things I did: Top stitched with double needle around the fly, and the waistband both top and bottom. And stitched down the pleats (double needle) 2 inches down. I also made my pleats facing out - towards my hips - rather than in to help prevent the tummy pooch. I put my belt loops into both the seams for the waist band, then I topstitched over them on the top, but not the bottom.
Things I did "wrong" in finishing: left the overlap on the waist band on the wrong side. The even with the zipper side should have gone on top and the "flap" underneath. That one annoys me. I don't like the way the front waistband lines up. It just isn't even or pretty. I don't know what I did wrong there, but perhaps just sloppyness?

Things I will do differently next time: make them shorter. Make my thread tracings with longer loops. Do the waist band right (duh). Add pockets, though probably not the welt - still chicken there.
Of course I still need to hem and press. And you can still see a bunch of the threads from tracing hanging out.
If you have any questions or comments, please leave them. I'm hoping for even better next time.
Final parting shot is of my hot new shoes. LUV them. And handy for quick get aways to Kansas.

Those are great shoes...
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are fierce. And they don't even hurt! And my pants will look better tomorrow after they're hemmed and ironed. I promise! They'll even have a button or 2. And maybe a sister on the way.
