First, um, yeah. Sewfast, yesterday was Thursday. NOT Friday. I actually realized this probably about the time you posted. I was in the shower at the time. Perhaps shampoo is a memory aide? Who knew? And I am firmly planted on my sofa NOW. ON FRIDAY NIGHT, watching WNTW. Yea!
And this just cracks me up. Seriously funny. Irish pub in China Town. Look at the signage. What a hoot! No, we didn't go in. It was early. But I want to go back. Kung Pao chicken and a Guinness, anyone?
I think I'm off to paint my toenails. I noticed today that they're half naked and the other half ugly. At least I just at the vet's office. They're happy if you don't piddle on the floor.
As promised, I did take a couple of pictures of my lounge bottoms. We have 2 poses. First up, bad fashion model in an ugly shirt
(seriously, I didn't realize how bad it was - it MUST GO!) and "wait, where's my number? I can't have my mug shot taken without my number!"
I used an over the top quilting cotton that I just adore but can't wear in public and don't want as an entire quilt. I love the colors and the grapes, but this is the only use for it. I used a piece of bias tape for the tie, with a bit of deco stitching. Hey, they're PJ's. I hope it softens up some after a few washings. I really like this pattern, BWOF just fits my butt. Other PJ's I've made have been so big and baggy that I hated them and alter them constantly. These are good. I didn't have enough fabric to make them full length, but cropped is fine for summer. They are the same length, despite the picture.

My next project is the same BWOF skirt from the April Issue. Once again I'm using a pretty interesting print. Here's the back and sides.
I made absolutely no attempt to match or place the print, just let it be. I need a trip to G Street before I can do the front panel, I want to put some piping along the front seam and need some rat tail or other cording. I basted the zipper closed, but didn't put it in yet. It will be better done tomorrow morning after coffee. I got most of the seam edges finished and the front panel started. Now, the $64,000 question. These buttons?
Too much? Wrong shape? Color a little too off? First blush said "WOW!, I can't believe I have these. " But now I'm not so positive. Hmmm? Yea or Nay?

And I want to cut out at least one pair of shorts this weekend, maybe 2. And I really need pants. I was thinking about the ones in July BWOF, but after seeing them made I think the legs may be more narrow than I want for work. I really like the ones from June(?) May? I think I need a better system for this. But the point is that I want to get some things cut out so I can work on them during the few moments I have during the week.
On the fourth we took the Metro up to the District just to go with the crowd.
It was fun, like shopping on Christmas Eve when you're really done. We had lunch and walked around a while. Got to watch the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at the restaurant while eating salad. And when we'd had enough, back home we went to grill burgers and watch the fireworks from our rooftop deck. I did take a couple of pictures I think you'll enjoy.
A quiet moment down a corridor. Can you believe there are no people in site? I loved the curve of the walkway and the shadows.

Love your grape PJ's.
ReplyDeleteCute jammie bottoms. I can live in those, indoors, of course.
ReplyDeleteI like the buttons with the skirt. How are you going to use them?
ReplyDeleteThat Irish pub in Chinatown? We stumbled across it last year when we were in DC on vacation. My spouse liked the Guiness on tap = apparently the real thing from Ireland, and the food was pretty good, too. We were planning on Chinese food that evening...
