After lunch and before the grocery store I worked a bit more on what are now known as the pants with the pockets from hell. I stitched up the side and inside leg seams. Pressed them and **gasp** used my new and newly re-threaded serger to clean up the seams. This fabric is a bit ravellry and, well, I could serge. Then I went back to press again and - are you ready for this? - found I'd serged the pocket into the side seam. Yep, the bottom of the pocket serged right into the side of my slacks. **sigh** Fortunately it was within their seam allowance and I was able to snip it loose. But holy freakin' cow! I thought I was better than this. Really! On the plus side, the zipper went in easy peasy (thank you, once more Sandra B - you're back on my good side. I love you, man).
In other news.. wait. No. There is no other news. So I'm going to make some canned soup for dinner, open a bottle wine and watch the West Wing (season 7 if you're keeping up). Good night.
BeeBee, it seems like these pants do not want to have pockets!!! Be careful not to spill any wine on the pockets. :)

Well,s*** happens, unfortunately! You were lucky though, that you didn't cut a hole with the serger blade. I've done that, more than once. Once, I was serging the croctch seam in pants and cut a big hole in the inseam.
ReplyDeleteDebra, I would agree, but the pockets are the kind of hip pockets that form the front of the slacks - not inseam pockets. Or, trust me, I'd've ditched them ages ago!
